About Us - Our Philosophies

Clermont Homeschool CO-NNECTIONS helps to support home education by providing a secular, inclusive, affordable, conveniently located, semi-cooperative learning experience.

It is the vision of 13-year-old Corinne , who in her second year of homeschooling, longed for more meaningful social and academic interactions. We began by organizing classes at local libraries, Public Speaking, Book Club and more. In an effort to create a cohesive and permanent location, together we launched the Clermont Homeschoolers CO-OP in February 2017. Corinne recently gave an overhaul to our project by creating a new name, re-designing the logo and re-imagining the format of our 'classes'. I gave a fresh look to the website to compliment her vision.  We are thankful to the talented parents who volunteer with us to provide fun and meaningful classes, and to those who have taken a chance on us! We are always, growing, always learning and always evolving!

The basics...

•  Kids participate in group learning experiences while building friendships.

•  Parents can remain involved in the learning/teaching process

with their children.

•  Enhance and supplement your homeschooling journey in

a secular, relaxed, non-competitive, and non-traditional atmosphere.

Our Vision:

• Clermont Homeschool CO-NNECTIONS was founded to help and support home education with a social outlet and enrichment co-op style classes.

• We are inspired by Micro-schooling, where class size is small and mixed-age levels. Children can participate in multi-age, multi-ability group learning experiences, exploring exciting and motivating ways to study interesting topics, while building friendships.

• We are similarly inspired by the Sudbury school's practice of schooling in which students individually decide what to do with their time, and learn as a by-product of ordinary experience rather than through classes or a standard curriculum. We try and incorporate a little of this by providing opportunities for self-directed learning.

• We promote diversity, tolerance and encourage multi-age, multi-ability group play and learning. We welcome all special needs; special needs of any kind; academic, physical, mental or emotional impediments, impairments or disabilities.

Our Mission:

Parents can work together to enrich their children’s education as they share their skills, talents, and expertise. Parents can participate in a group learning experience and remain involved in the learning and teaching process with their children. Parents can enhance and supplement the homeschooling journey in a secular, inclusive, relaxed, fun, non-competitive, non-traditional atmosphere.

What We Offer:

• We operate as a partial CO-OP, so people can choose to instruct , and receive classes at no charge for their children; and others can choose to just 'pay and go'.

• Our programs are an easy going, flexible, inclusive, and affordable way to get the kids ‘socializing’!

• Facilities expenses and most supplies fees are covered by class tuition. Costs vary depending on the class.

• 'Classes' generally meet one day per week, and sessions will vary as we offer multi-week sessions, mini-sessions, and one-day-workshops. Most multi-week sessions are between four and eight weeks. 'Class' days are generally 3 hours.
